Potential funding oppourtunity.

Tucker had a good idea. Once we get our land, we should immediately begin to work towards stop depending on money for our needs. Either buying or building a community living structure within a month or so while planting food. Once the community shelter is built, we can offer classes instructing other people how to do this. Our instruction can be centered around the building of our own houses. So basically people will pay $85 - $90 for our class and the class project to demonstrate and teach on will be our own houses. So other people will be paying for knowledge and for working towards helping us build our houses.

Yes we are charging people but we don't think this out of line with what we are going for. people are paying a low price for knowledge we want them to have, we are not relying on corporations or the government for income, and unfortunately we will still have to make some transactions in dollars.

Great idea. Let's not forget, though, that the labor from potential learners might be payment enough. Imagine how quickly we would have shelter with many helpers working for nothing but knowledge. I suppose whether or not we charge an actual fee would depend on how comfortable we are with the process. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

yeah we will have a much better gauge of whats going on once Tucker and I finish this small building and go to this class.

fees should be intended to cover the costs of the 'students' on our community: the costs of water, power, food, and shelter. I don't want to be for-profit. we will profit from the knowledge and skills we are going to develop regardless of any monetary reward.

right, essentially that is what they are paying for, its just that it didn't cost anything for food, water and such. The way I see it is once money has been spent, I don't care about recouping costs. we just have to spend until everything we need is paid for. I guess we should all talk about how we feel about money and stuff.
