Test House

Tucker and I are going to start building a small test house to prove some of our theories in practice and to get a gauge of what kind of work is involved. We will be building a 9' by 12' room with a 3' by 12' green house space. We will be digging and laying a foundation and giving it a cob floor. The walls will be straw bales with cob walls for protection and thermal mass. We will be heating the floor and building with compost. There will be a functioning heated shower and sink. There will be hammocks for sleeping. There will be a rain catchment system to provide all water. And of course the garden. We will keep you updated with posts and pictures. We would like to have it done in 3-4 weeks. Total cost will be $500-$600. This will provide us with a measure on feasibility for building community shelter relatively quickly or not. Any questions, please ask.
